What does "To design position" mean?

The setting of supports as „To design position“ determines the deflection value in the current construction stage and section above support. If the design position is switched off, supports are placed on the deformed structure which is based on the history of loading. While switched on, the deflection value at support is defined as zero and „compensation“ of the previous deflection is introduced.
